Guidelines for the 2007 Greensboro Engineers Club Scholarship

 

Awards:

  • 2 scholarships of $1,000

  • Each recipient will receive a free 1-year student membership in GEC

 

The candidates must meet the following requirements:

 

            All candidates:

  • Currently enrolled in North Carolina A&T State University or Guilford Technical Community College.

  • A student in good academic and disciplinary standing with his or her respective school.

  • Strong interest and current pursuit of a career in the field of engineering or engineering technology.

  • Significant financial need

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Preference will be given to full time students – part time students will be required to submit current class load information.

 

North Carolina A&T State University:

  • Currently (as of February 2007) a sophomore or junior or expected to graduate in May of 2008.

  • Planning to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.

Guilford Technical Community College:

  • Completing the first year of a two-year program in May 2007 and planning to enroll in both the fall of 2007 and spring of 2008.

  • Planning to graduate with an Associates degree in Architectural, Civil, Electronic, Mechanical, or Surveying Engineering Technology.

Deadline for applications is January xx, 2009.

 

The scholarship committee will evaluate applications.  Personal interviews with the applicants, if deemed necessary, is optional The scholarship committee consists of:

Hap Giberson, Chair

Harry Clapp

Keith Brown

Tony Simone

 

  Committee will recommend 2 winners to the Board of Directors at the March Board of Directors meeting.  The scholarship committee will notify recipients on or before March 28th and send the recipients’ names and other pertinent information to the Greensboro News & Record.  Awards will be presented at the April meeting of Greensboro Engineers Club (tentatively scheduled for April 2nd, 2007).
